SING! GLOBAL

Just briefly to remind you all that we will be holding our first Sing! Global Singing Day at The Watershed, Bridge Street, Slaithwaite on Sunday 22nd April 10.15-3.30. It's going to be good as we will really be able to get our teeth into some of the songs and have a bit of fun too! I'll post up more details of songs later in the week.

Gill's Diary

Well it's been a week or so, but I have been poorly, so there's my excuse. We've been busy though.

The Magic Postman has been performing Music and Magic for Sure Start events in Manchester. Andy's pleased to have introduced one of his new tricks acquired at the wonderful Blackpool Magic Convention.

Xylosound have been in performance at Salendine Nook to a packed audience at the Baptist Church.

Karima and I have submitted an application for the Moonraking Festival to the Big Lottery Family Learning Fund. It was quite a task and we we're relieved to finally get it in.

Andy, Lawrie and I went over to see More Music in Morecambe's piece 'The Long Walk' a response in music to the death of the Chinese cockle pickers on the sands of the bay. It was a very impressive, multi-layered piece of work with lots of multi-generational community involvement and collaboration with Chinese musicians. Lots to savour. I believe they plan to develop the work in other places too.

We are busy in The Watershed with paint brushes and rollers putting the finishing touches to the admin suite and the new community meeting room. A mass session on Friday really broke the back of the job, many thanks to all who helped.

Finally on a musical note the Moonraker Band played for a delightful Octaganarian Party of much loved local teacher and singer Janey Sykes, it was a joy and tonight I'm off to see Noah and Ruby perform with Gary Bamforth and Amanda Huxtable in support (Andy's playing on a few numbers too!)
